About Solapur — A Brief History

Solapur sits on the dry plateau of southern Maharashtra, on the road between Pune and Hyderabad. The settlement is over a thousand years old, and is closely linked with the saint Siddheshwar, who is said to have come from Karnataka in the twelfth century and built sixty-eight Shiva lingas around the town.
