About Nanded — A Brief History

Nanded sits on the southern bank of the Godavari river, in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra. The town shows up in old records under several names Nandagiri, Nanditata and Nandi-grama and tradition links the place to the sage Nandi, after whom many of the older temples here are named.
